Homophobia
Coincidently, I have came across two blogs tonight talking about homosexuality. One was about other person's comments of how a homosexual isn't competent to work in the mental health field because him/her "needs help" themselves. The other was about how young people use the term "gay" when discussing something they think is pointless or stupid. Here's my two cents on it all.
I feel (as I think many people also do) that being homosexual means nothing about your job performance. Gay people go to college, graduate, land a job, and work just like bisexuals and heterosexuals...I don't understand why someone would say that a homosexual person is "too sick him/herself" to help others. That's just downright close-minded, and a bit silly, in my opinion. But, you know what opinions are like...
I also think using the word "gay" as an adjective for something that someone sees as stupid is ridiculous. Since when did that term come to mean that?? The English language has the most unusual slang...it's tiring just trying to keep up with it. I personally will never use that word in that context, and will not think too highly of someone else's statement that uses that word in that sort of way.
