Need a home?
When my fiance and I were looking for a house, we dealt with a couple different people who worked at different real estate agencies. The one who ended up selling the house almost lost our business after he refused to present an offer we had made of a house that was listed under his name because he "thought it was too low." At that point, we decided if we continued to use him, we would not purchase anything he was directly selling, so he had no one to favor but us (since he would be getting a nice chunk of money out of the deal.)
We ended with a relatively good buying experience, but I would have preferred better buyer representation. It would have been nice have known about Territory Real Estate back then. They offer total buyer representation for one flat fee. Agents make a percentage of what the house sells for, so they will often push buyers to the higher end of their budget, to get the most commission. Territory charges you the same thing, whether you buy a $100,000 or a $400,000 home. That decrease in pressure alone would have made our buying experience more worthwhile.
