Wow, Father’s Day is almost here…seems like Mother’s Day was yesterday! I do not have a clue what to get my step-dad. I was reading an article earlier about gift ideas, and apparently rings are a hot item to buy fathers. My step-dad doesn’t wear rings, including mens wedding bands, so that’s out of the question. It will probably be something fishing related, since that’s what he eats, sleeps, and lives.
I tell you, babies are so easy to shop for. There are so many different things to choose from (outfits, toys, diapers, etc.), and no matter what you buy, it is sure to get used! Even when I am not buying for someone, I love to go to the baby section just to smell the lotion! :) I wish my little brother and sister's gifts were as easier to buy as baby gifts are. Nowadays, those two just get money from me!
Yesterday was such a nice day. James and I went down to my aunt and uncle's house for lunch. We got to see my two little cousins. They are so fun to play with, but man, they can wear you out! I ended up falling asleep on the couch while I was there!! I remember back when they were younger, and how much I miss those times...I miss getting to buy them cute little baby clothes and toys, and how they were so easy to babysit. Now, one is 4 and the other is almost 7, so there is no sitting down when you are visiting them! And even though they are bigger, I can still find cute childrens clothes to buy them!
How often do you call your parents?
I don't call mine too often, maybe 2-3 times a week. My mom calls me almost every day though, we talk all the time. She can always think of daily questions for me!
I just found out that my great grandfather is in the hospital. I don't know many details, but he was taken to the ER sometime last night. I believe his condition has something to do with his stomach. We are going to visit him in just a little bit, so I will know more about it then...
One day until Halloween!! James and I won't be doing much this year, just relaxing and home, and giving out candy. My little cousin is going trick or treating with my mom, so his parents can go to a haunted house. I hope they come by, so I can see the lil Spiderman!!
James and I are going to need to start our Christmas shopping list soon. We usually buy for both immediate families (brothers, sisters, parents) as well as my grandparents, and a few of my cousins. I suggested that once we get back from our honeymoon, that we buy a couple of presents each payday, so we won't be stuck with any last minute shopping in December. I need to start asking questions that will lead me to what everyone wants. I'm sure my little cousins will get some sort of toy, and I'll probably be looking for a pair of Seven jeans for another. As soon as I am done here, I think I will go ahead and create a nice Excel spreadsheet for our list!
I am so ready to have a child. We went and picked up my little 4 year old cousin, Jake, on Friday afternoon, and kept him over the weekend. Friday night, we took him to a high school football game, and he had a blast. He loved to clap every time everyone else did (and even sometimes when they weren't!) and would start dancing when the bands played. He got a little souvenir football that the cheerleaders were throwing in the stands, and when we got him home, all he wanted to do was throw that ball with James. It was so cute to see James playing with him! He's going to make such a good daddy!!
Yesterday we went and did some wedding shopping, and we were in Michael's (craft store), and James was pushing the buggy that Jake was riding in. James thought he would take Jake over to see the Halloween blow up things that the store had on display. My mom, sister, and I were on the ribbon aisle, and we hear this scream...sounded like a child was being beat or something. We rush over, and of course, it was Jake, who is apparently terrified of scary looking things. I kinda snapped at James, cause I knew better than to take a small child (well, this particular small child) over to that certain section. He hasn't been around children much, so he has a lot to learn...
Today, we went to church, and Jake stayed amazingly quiet through the service. He's not that talkative most of the time anyways, but we didn't know how he would act, since he doesn't attend church. During our welcoming, where we all get up and shake hands/hug, he wanted to hug everyone! If someone stuck their hand out for him to shake, he'd just throw up both arms, expecting them to pick him up!!
He's going back home today. Mom was going to take him back to the pool for a couple of hours before taking him home. He loves to swim. We had him in the pool at 10pm last night, and he begged to stay in when everyone else got out because the water was freezing!! It's been fun to have a little kid around this weekend. I can't want for me and James to have one of our own!!
Tomorrow (well, technically today) is my little cousin's birthday party. She will turn 6 on Monday. I can remember when she was born. She was my aunt's first grandchild, and definitely the most spoiled! Though they live an hour away, I lived with my aunt and uncle for two years while I was in college, so I was around her all the time when she was younger. She's having a barnyard party, complete with handmade pig invitations. They are the cutest thing! You lift the pig's snout, and under it is all the details of the party. My mom and I went together and bought her some Moon Sand, which is like Playdoh, though it claims to be less messy and will not stain. I can't wait to see her tomorrow!
My entire family (excluding me, of course) left for Panama City Beach, Florida this morning. I really wish I was going with them, but neither me or James could take that much time off work right now. We are going on vacation in October instead to Gatlinburg, TN. We are going because of a free trip we won to stay in a condo for 7 days! All we have to pay is the cleanup fees, which are like, $25 a day or something. Which isn't bad for a condo that sleeps four. Yay for bridal fairs!
Speaking of brides, we have to start planning for the wedding. We are going to have it at our church on Saturday, May 3, 2008...at 2pm. The flowers used will be daisies, and the color will be light blue. We are going to honeymoon in NYC. I think that's all the details we have pretty much set in stone right now. James is very easy going when it comes to planning, and he usually agrees with what me and my mom decide. Speaking of mom, she will end of driving me crazy before the wedding. I know she's excited about her oldest daughter getting married, and how she dearly loves her future son-in-law, but I am very sure we will butt heads a few times before next May!!
I received my first Bloggerwave payment a few days ago...I was so excited to see that $30 going into my paypal account! That is the first payment I have received by doing sponsored posts, but I hope to make more as my blogs get older. I am going to the leave the money at pp for a while...possibly until next tax season, when I will be penalized for making money without paying taxes. Then what's left will probably go toward our wedding! In less than 10 months, I will be a married woman! Woot!!
