Today, while sitting out here in the garage for our yard sale, I was looking up at the ceiling fans. I was thinking how we really need to update some of our residential lighting in this house…There are actually quite a few things that need updating in this house. We have a fairly good size to-do list for our remodeling. One thing at a time I suppose…
When James and I get to build our dream home, we are going to build it a few acres. Hopefully our back yard will lead to a wooded area for our future children to play in. We may get us a couple of ATV's to have fun on...or maybe a kawasaki teryx. Those things look like a lot of fun to go four wheeling with!
If you plan on redoing your garage, an outbuilding, or an auto body shop, you are probably going to need some commercial lighting. To me, commercial lighting is better for those times of establishments. To get affordable lights for the job, I recommend accessdiscounts.us. They have a wide variety of lights, including grow lights for you plant people, so you can't go wrong with them!!
Back when James and I first moved out on our own, I wish we had bought a house. It would have been a lot easier, cheaper (in the long run), and more worth the money. We decided not to even venture down the house buying route the time, which was completely ignorant on our part. We just jumped right into the "For rent" section of the classifieds. Our new living location was found when we saw an apartment for rent in town that we both agreed on. Then we were stuck in a lease, wasting money on rent when we could have been putting it towards a mortgage.
If we had bought a home back then, there would have only been one time of hauling load after load from my grandmother's house. Instead, we moved from her house to the apartment, from the apartment to the storage building, and from the storage building to our current home. We really wanted to pay a mover to move all our stuff, and we could have afforded to if we had only relocated once!
When James and I moved into our home, one of the first things we noticed was the old mailbox. It's a plain, dark green, metal box that's being held up by a rotting wooden stand. It's kinda run down looking compared to other mailboxes on our street. We have though about getting one of those heavy duty plastic ones, but they are quite expensive. We definitely want a box that's all one piece, versus the wood plus metal we currently have.
We've tried looking for a new mailbox at Wal-Mart, but they don't have much of a selection of residential mailboxes. I guess we are going to have to resort to a home improvement store, or buying something online....I saw some on one website, and quickly realized there are many styles and colors to choose from. They sold many commercial mailboxes, as well...They even sold the small commercial mailboxes like you see at apartment complexes. For us, I really like the big black boxes with the gold letters on the side. Our numbers are on the stand, and you can't see them very well from the road. I actually wish we could have one of the boxes that are mounted onto the house near the front door, but I don't see our mail person (not sure if it's a man or woman!) walking to our front door everyday...
I have been looking around our home, and was thinking that we need some additional lighting in some of the rooms. In all rooms except for the living room, all we have are the ceiling light fixtures. I would like to look for some lamps to put in these rooms. Lamps can usually give adequate lighting, without using the bright lights of the ceiling fixtures/fans. Plus, the majority of the time when we flip the switch, the ceiling fans come on with the lights, which sometimes we don't want. If we could just pull the chain of a lamp, we wouldn't have to worry about being cold!
I also think lamps would be cost effective. If you are going to work in one section of the room, why light the whole thing? I think a couple ofdesk lamps would work good in the office for when me or James is studying. The floor lamps we currently have the bedroom give off enough light when reading, or just when sitting in the room and not wanting to be in the dark. A floor lamp in each bedroom would be nice too.
With Christmas not far away, I have been constantly browsing the Internet, in search of the perfect gifts for those on my lists. I have visited many different websites, and saw many different products. When looking at a home website, I found a vacuum cleaner brand I had never heard of called Dyson. After looking around their website, I found that their products seem somewhat durable and worth your money. They offer different styles, such as upright and cylinder, and they have several different models in each style. There is an entire section on their website devoted to vacuum cleaner parts. This means you would be able to find the parts you need and keep your vacuum running!!
If James and I didn't already have one, I would consider looking into this brand for ourselves...Now if I could just think of someone that needs one, they would make an great Christmas gift!
When I think about things I would like to do (or redo!) in our house, the list seems endless. There are just little things that James and I don't care for, but, of course, they weren't enough to keep us from buying the house. We have slowly been changing these things, because we believe that every thing we do to this house makes it more and more "our home." Unfortunately though, home repairs, decorating, and improvements can be pretty costly, and you can be out of money fast. I have come across a website that sells their stock at decent prices, and I am thinking about purchasing something from them. They have discount bathroom furnishings that would look great in our guest bathroom, which is one of the few rooms we have left to redecorate.
This business also offers a complete section of cheap lights on their site. There was a neat looking ceiling fixture that would look good in the bathroom I mentioned earlier. I also found some pretty sconces that would match a wall clock we have hanging in the living room. I am definitely bookmarking this site, so I can be sure to come back when we actually get ready to continue our house projects.
While I love my current bedding set, which is a mixture of chocolate and baby blue, I sometimes find myself checking out my friends' bedrooms, or browsing online to see what else is out there. Since my bedroom walls are baby blue, with my master bath matching my bedroom, I am a bit limited in the bedding and colors I can choose. Luckily, there are places online that offer personalized bedding. You can choose the colors, designs, and more to make your bed covers personalized to you. This is especially great for bedrooms with even harder to match colors than my own. Now you can find Colorful Bedding that will match your room and your style! Though the comforter in the picture wouldn't match my room, it's a nice example of the unique bedding that can be found online!!
I remember when James and I were looking for apartments for rent in our city last year. We had to act pretty fast, for we were staying with my grandmother. That was a cramped living situation, and we were eager to get out fast! We scoured through all the local papers, and then by picking up the books from the local grocery and convenience stores. We finally found use a place, after only a couple of weeks of browsing, with the help of our searching methods. I don't think we could have done it by just driving around, especially not with gas prices the way they are these days. I highly recommend grabbing those books, such as The Apartment Finder, if you decide to start looking for a new place anytime soon. They are free, and are packed with tons of listings, so you are sure to find something to meet your needs!
