I just found out that my hosts for IamKecia.com & What I Think... are going to shut down their business. This really saddens me, and even kinda frustrates me, because I just switched to them in August. They are still honoring everyone's contracts, so I will be covered to next August. They are going to be more all the accounts over to a reseller, so I am worried that they will just dump us on them and run. I don't know what the customer service and support will be like, if they do that. There will be some downtime, because of the transfer, but they didn't mention for how long....Now, I have to begin the search for a new host...I was working on new layout and some updates for IamKecia, but hearing this just made me not want to work on it...
Grrrr...My sites are down again! I guess I will blog here, since it could use an update anyways! I have gone Pink for October on here, and on IamKecia.com. Since it is breast cancer awareness month, I felt I should do my part to support such a great cause, so I'm all pink!
Only 12 more days until the wedding!! I had thought about writing this whole post without mentioning the "w" word, but I just couldn't do it! :P Everyone tells me I am going to be nervous next week, but I am just too excited to be nervous!!
I was browsing online earlier when I came across a site talking about the San Diego Soma music venue. When I went to Cali a few years ago, we almost got tickets to go see some bands play there. We opted not to though, and just hung out at the hotel that night. I kinda wish we had went, just cause it seemed like it would have been fun...
Just a little note before I check PPP and hit the bed. My site is now transferred to the new host, but I am having some email issues...primarily because I don't know what to do! Luckily, James is taking care of all that for me! I have been working on giving the site a makeover, which will be up hopefully by the end of this week. I haven't had much time for any computer things this week, since I have to get up so early for work...
James and I met with the preacher and his wife today, to discuss the wedding ceremony. Today was the first time we have saw them since June, and we miss them like crazy!!! We went through the program, and will be revising that a bit. Next, I have to sit down and pick out the rest of the music that will be played, and the program will be ready to be sent to the printers!!
So IamKecia is in the process of being transferred to its new host as I type. The process was a lot easier than James and I thought it would be...well, than James thought it would be, since he did all the work. I am still clueless when it comes to most website related things, so I spent time doing something I know how to do...tweaking a theme. It will be going up as soon as the transfer is complete! I think it will look good, since I am incorporating some new things I've never used before. But we will see I guess! I have a post on there that was written after the transfer was started, so I will know when it is over at the new host. What I Think... has been at the new host for a couple weeks now, and so far so good! Oh, and if anyone has any post ideas for WIT, please share...it is in bad need of an update!
Wedding related....We now have everyone measured for their clothing, and are awaiting the bridesmaids' dresses to arrive. They should be in at the end of this week, or the beginning of next. I can't wait to see what they all look like, and especially what my bridal party looks like in them! 27 more days...Woot!!
I will be moving my domain, IamKecia, over to my new host this week. There may be some downtime, but hopefully not too much. I am completely unfamiliar with the process, but people at Tehlove (new host) seems very nice and so willing to help. I am afraid there will be issues with the domain name, because I purchased it through my current host. There is not much in their FAQ on taking a domain from them to another host, but I did read somewhere that when someone cancels their hosting services, the domain becomes their's (the hostee's). I don't know if there is a fee involved...hopefully nothing too drastic though....
My website has become my very own wedding planning journal, so if you would like to keep up with what's going on with that...you should check it out! I am so glad everything is falling in place wedding-wise, and I can not wait for the date to get here!! Then I get to spend 5 relaxed days away from work, and in Gatlinburg with the love of my life! It doesn't get much better than that...well, maybe if we won the lottery, and were about to quit our jobs and just travel all the time. But ya know, you have to buy tickets to win, so I guess we are outta luck! :)
Today is the start of my nice 4 day weekend. I have a few things planned, but I will be able to rest and just lounge around for some of the time I have off. I plan on moving IamKecia to the new host over the weekend...if James can help me of course! What I Think... is already over there, and on it's new domain, so feel free to visit and link it! I'll definitely return the favor. I'll be updating it with more reviews over the weekend.
After about 4 hours of tweaking, IamKecia has a new layout! It's a pre-made theme, but I am not good enough to go from scratch just yet. I'm learning more about using widgets (this theme taught me a lot!), and they are easier than having to use code. I am now using some different smilies...I've gotten tired of WP's default ones. I know a blog that's in need of an update! I've been searching all those "get paid to blog" but I can't find anything to make money on...and right now, we could really use it. The only one that I've joined with this blog is Bloggerwave, and it has had the same two opps since I started it last month. Plus, I have no idea when/if I'll get my $30 I am currently owed. I sent them an email asking about it, but I haven't heard anything. The rest of the sites have age requirements that my blog has yet to fulfill...
So I am off tomorrow for Independence Day!! YAY! And I'm glad that I have recovered from the funk I was in early this morning (which was a virus or something I ate)...I would suck to be sick on an off day. We are going to the lake I believe. My family is down there camping all week, and apparently, it's not a place you can reach by car. My mom told me if we were coming, I had to park at the boat ramp, and call my step-dad to come get us. Maybe I'm just getting paranoid as I get older, but what if something happens, like someone gets sick or hurt?? They would have to jump in a boat to get back to a vehicle so they could go to the hospital...which would take a lot of time. Oh well, I need to stop thinking so much...
Bad News - My site is down...AGAIN!! James pulled up the online tech support, and started talking to someone on there to see what the problem was. They are having issues with the same server as last time....which I am assuming is what all my stuff is on. They said it was corrupted again, and they are going to look at this, this and this, and replace this or that....And they should be able to fix it within 18 hours...Yay! *rolls eyes* I am seriously thinking about looking for another host. I haven't been with them long, but still.... I just want my site to be up!!
Now for some good news! My other two birthday gifts from James came in the mail today. (I have already gotten my Georgia Bulldog Fossil watch & a sweet lil letter telling me that he pre-ordered the last Harry Potter book for me!) I got The Whole Mr. Bean Series box set & Alf: Season One. These are both shows I used to watch when I was younger, and I have been wanting to get them on DVD for a while. I have even been looking for them on eBay back before my birthday...but I slacked off on that since I did put them on the birthday wish list I gave to James. He always asks for a list every birthday & Christmas, so he knows I will like what he got me...since I asked for it! Kinda takes the fun out of wondering what I am getting, since he usually only buys from the list...But it's okay, just means I won't have to return anything!!
So, something happened with my hosting company, Cirtex Hosting, & my account/website got deleted. Some kind of server was corrupted or something. But anyways, they lost the past week's worth of data (including my registration & domain) so now I have to wait for them to work my ticket before my site will be back up again. I am new to websites & hosting & all that, but I can tell you now, I am not happy. I was freaking out about 15 minutes ago, when I went to my site to post a blog. It just gave me an index thing. I checked my email & discovered the vanishing of my account. I then went to talk to one of those online tech support people (who knew little English, & didn't really answer the questions I asked). He said that if I would just email tech support all my login info & which package I had paid for, they could recreate my account for me. I'm going to let this little incident slide, because I was referred to them by a someone who has never had a problem with it....so I am just going to wait & see...I maybe change hosts if I am dissatisfied after this.....
